Mr Howarth, Deputy Headteacher, writes "The final Friday before Christmas saw our whole school commendation assembly and featured a number of new awards for the students. We have been lucky enough to receive the backing of the South Ribble Rotary Club who supported some new awards based around our new ASPIRE system. Two members of the Rotary Club came to present awards for the highest point scorers in each of the six parts of our ASPIRE vision. These awards were given to the students in each of the school sections that attained the most points for Achieving, Self Motivated, Positive, Imaginative, Respectful, Having Empathy. The Rotary Club also supported the students with awards for 100% attendance.
The second new part of our assembly were the commendations from staff. These were to reward the students for their achievement and effort across all the subjects. We asked every member of staff to nominate one commendation for the top achiever in their class and two commendations for highest effort in every class.
This way, no matter which academic set the students are in for subjects at WLD, then their achievements and hard work would be awarded on Classcharts.
Over 400 students received at least one commendation from staff. Of those, nearly 200 students received 2 or more commendations. Students then received Bronze, Silver or Gold Commendation Certificates for the number of commendations they received.
The highest number of commendations were as follows:"
