Image of Celebrating GCSE success!

The whole community at Walton-le-Dale are particularly delighted with the outstanding results of a courageous young lady - Caitlin Evans.  Caitlin witnessed the traumatic events at the bombing of the Ariana Grande concert in Manchester at the start of her examinations but resolved to carry on with her exams and everyone is delighted that her courage and resilience were rewarded today with an outstanding set of results - 9 (the new top grade) in English Language, 8 in Maths, along with 4A*s and 3 As in other subjects.

Caitlin is not, of course, the only one to achieve outstanding results at Walton-le-Dale with other notable excellent results coming from Jack Lowe, Emily Pickervance, Grace Akula, Darcie Howarth, Renaldas Samanavicius and Katie Winstone.

James Harris, incoming Headteacher, said

"These results are a credit to the students, their families, and our staff - a real team effort.  I am delighted that hard work and resilience has been rewarded by success.  This is particularly pleasing in a time of rapid change with new styles of examinations and grade systems.  I wish all our young people well as they go into the next stage of their lives and look forward to hearing of their continued success in the years to come."
