After training hard all year, 39 of our Year 9 students travelled to sunny Waddecar to complete their Qualifying expedition for the Duke of Edinburgh Award. The students went in 2 cohorts on the 3rd and 4th of July and the 12th and 13th of July.
Students were required to independently navigate from the village of Chipping to Waddecar on the first day, set up camp and cook an evening meal. Then they are up early to pack up camp and walk in the area surrounding Beacon Fell on the second day. Students carry everything they need and many planned long and challenging routes including, for some, a climb to the summit of Parlick.
The students showed determination and resilience and staff were proud of their achievements.
