Our Careers Co-ordinator, Miss Royal, writes....
"On the Friday before the half term break we had our first Aspire Day of the academic year with a large variety of activities going on around school.
Our Year 10’s and Year 11’s took part in a Virtual Speed Networking activity with a variety of employers. A special thanks to the amazing support from the professionals who got involved to offer an insight into their role, their pathway and the sector they work in and answer the questions put to them by our students.

Another massive thank you to Jelena and her colleagues at Kepak for delivering an excellent employer insight session for our Year 10’s. Not only did they have the chance to hear about the great opportunities available within the business but also allowing them the opportunity to use their creativity to develop new business ideas – we may have some excellent product designers in the making.
Our Year 11's then worked hard on their CVs, Personal Statements and Letters of Application to prepare them for their next steps. They learnt the importance of portraying their skills and qualities and the need to 'sell' their strengths and experience positively - essential to give them the advantage in the job market.
Our Year 7’s spent their Careers Aspire Day broadening their understanding of the range of job roles and sectors available in the world of work. They were introduced to employability skills and qualities and explored which they are developing through their education and outside of school. This involved interviewing guests about their careers including Richard Lea, Leila White and a WLD ex pupil Dave Hopkinson. This helped the students to begin understanding pathways and inspire them to think where their education can take them. We are grateful of the external support and the great advice given to our students. Students also enjoyed meeting Dave’s dog Kash, this gorgeous American Bully …"
