Enrichment Days are an important part of the curriculum at Walton-le-Dale.  5 times a year we stop the regular timetable and undertake a range of additional activities.  This day in December was no different - Year 7 were working on "Shanty Town" - a whole-day project linked to their classwork in Opening Minds.  Year 8 were busy with a range of careers and PSHE activites, Year 9 had a new STEM Challenge "Squashed Tomatoes", Year 10 were engaged in a Technology Day and Year 11 had the critical mock interviews and completed college applications.

We had some lovely comments from the visiting interviewers about our Year 11s, including the following..."Thought I would drop you a line and say how thoroughly impressed I was with the students at the year 11 mock interviews. They were well mannered and professional. The standard of their work was very high and it was clear that they had put lots of effort into preparing for the day. It was well organised and a great opportunity for the interviewees to gain some insight of the job application process. Well done to all the students and staff for their efforts, it was a great learning experience for me too."  Another interviewer commented "Thank you so much for the opportunity to take part.  The 6 students I met were wonderful and a total credit to the school; all were engaging (although rather nervous) and despite a wide variety of CV's, covering letters and personal statements, their personalities, drive and enthusiasm really came through during the interviews."

Some photos from the day can be seen below along with some videos from the Year 9 "Squashed Tomatoes Challenge".  More information about the challenge can be found at this link here
