After a great overnight flight with a stop over in snowy - yes snow was still in the ground and the Christmas tree still up in the airport - Helsinki we arrived in Beijing early in the morning full of anticipation for 'doing' China over the next 6 days.
Our first day was a visit to Tiannanmen Square and the Forbidden City. After the first of many Chinese banquets we then packed our bags ready to leave Beijing the following day after visiting the Great Wall. The 900 mile train journey overnight to Xian was fun and interesting. Students and staff slept in bunks overnight ready to embrace the old city of Xian with its Wild Goose Pagoda and beautiful city walls.
Visiting the Terracotta warriors is an amazing sight leaving everyone in wonder about these soldiers spending so much time underground until being discovered by a local farmer.
Back to Beijing and many more banquets later we visit the Birds Nest Stadium, the bell ringing tower and the shops!
Loaded with gifts, handbags and trainers we flew back home tired, weary but with a host of amazing memories and experiences. A full on trip with superb children great staff and a secure link made with Walton le Dale Primary School.
