Good afternoon,
COVID testing: We received information from the government yesterday evening that we were to continue to plan for voluntary testing of staff and those students who are accessing provision on our site currently. With this in mind all parents and carers of those students have received an email this afternoon with information and a consent form. These can also be found on our website. We plan to begin testing from early next week.
Useful resources: Mrs Long, who is the Assistant Headteacher responsible for our teaching and learning provision, recommends this resource to parents & carers.
Praise: It has been lovely to see the number of positive Classcharts points being given for work being done remotely (1907 in the last 3 days including 1027 for "Self-motivation"). Several teachers have been commenting to me on the quality of work that is being done by students from home - well done to everyone. We know that this is a difficult and challenging time for students, families and our staff so it is great to hear positive news.
Year 11 examinations: There has been an announcement from the Secretary of State for Education, Gavin Williamson, about examinations - you will find the news article here. It is short on detail so we will be trying to find out what this means in reality over the coming days. We are also aware that many students are concerned about the examinations that they are due to take in February (Health & Social Care and Digital Information Technology). Again we are waiting for clarity. The advice that I gave Year 11 yesterday stands: keep working on what is in front of you now, because what you do now will matter.
Lost coats: Miss Bryan, who teaches girls' PE has reported that there are a number of unclaimed coats from before Christmas in the girls' changing rooms. The images are below. If they belong to your child please let us know - they are too good to lose!
Best wishes
