14 January 2022
Good afternoon,
Mrs Wall has been doing a very powerful assembly on friendship this week with all year groups. At this time in particular, this is an important message - the support we give to each other is vital when times are difficult. As we have said throughout this pandemic - "In a world where you can be anything, be kind". It is lovely to see the support that our students and staff give each other day by day.
All year groups
- School Closure: Please note the school will be closed on Monday, 24th January in lieu of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. Our term dates can be found on the website here.
- Uniform (notice from Mrs Wall): Since returning from our Christmas break we have seen an increase in the number of students who are wearing inappropriate footwear (trainers) to school. As stated in our uniform policy students should wear: plain black shoes – trainers and boots are not allowed (guidance can be found on our website here). From Monday 17th January if a student arrives at school wearing trainers and without a note from a parent/carer explaining why their child is not wearing their plain black shoes, the student will be able borrow a pair of sanitised shoes for the day. We would appreciate your support ensuring that your child has the correct uniform and equipment and any items that are missing are replaced as soon as possible.
- 2nd Covid Vaccination: Following on from information sent out earlier we have been advised that the nurses will be in school on Thursday 27th January to deliver the 2nd vaccination for children aged 12-15. Please complete the consent form which can be found here to indicate whether or not you would like your child vaccinating. Further information can also be found on the website. Please can your child bring the completed form back to hand in to their form tutor by Wednesday, 26th January.
- Nasal Flu Vaccination - National Text: Public Health England/NHS shall be texting all parents on Monday 17th January 2022, to advise that they can still book their child in for a flu vaccination. This is in response to recent media activity about health impacts of flu on children. The text will direct parents to contact 119 service should they have missed the flu sessions in schools. We have been asked to direct you to this email address lancschoolflu@intrahealth.co.uk for any queries you may have. (Please include our school name, borough and your own contact number in your email).
- Uniform Policy Consultation: Following the guidance provided by the government at the end of last term we are carrying out a review of our uniform policy. We are seeking the views of parents, carers, students and staff on possible changes to our current uniform policy. The parents/carers survey can be found here. Please submit all responses by 9am on Monday, 31st January.
Year 7
- Residential Trip: Your child would have received a letter before Christmas about the residential trip in July. A copy can be accessed on our website here.
Year 9
- KS4 Options: Please see letter on the website here for more information about the upcoming Year 9 Options Process 2022
Year 11
- College interviews: On Friday, 21st January, Prestons' College will be in school to conduct interviews with year 11s.
- Parents' and Carers' Evening: Reminder that it is year 11 Virtual Parents' and Carers' Evening on Wednesday, 19th January 4.30-7pm. Please see the link here for further information with details on how to book. We have also arranged that you can book appointments with our local colleges for that evening through the same system. We will be releasing the mock examination results to parents at that evening as well.
