This week, we will welcome our students back into our classrooms, asking them if they are well and if they are pleased to be back in school. This week, we will ask our students about concepts that they have learnt and knowledge that they might hold on certain subjects. This week, we will silently evaluate the well-being of our students and any concerns about missed work will be muted. This week we will keep in mind the students who have thrived in lockdown, meeting every milestone set and those who have struggled to maintain focus and motivation (sometimes through no fault of their own). In all of these activities and these conversations there are two commonalities: we will ask questions and we will listen.

Monday 8^th March 2021 is a fresh start for us all, hopefully moving in a positive direction towards a brighter future. Slates are wiped clean and we will support our students to ASPIRE to be the best that THEY can be, thus being the best that WE can be. It is a chance for us to re-model their futures based on our philosophy: FEEDBACK – PLAN – TEACH.

Thanks to KRO for offering this Top Tip. It is relevant as we all strive to engage our students in their learning and links to both our ASPIRE vision and our school mission statement: ‘Learning for Life’.

My Top Tip this week is sharing some amazing resources to assist staff (teaching and non-teaching) with linking curriculum subjects with careers, pathways and skills and these have been designed to be easily used and applied through lessons, homework and/or extra-curricular sessions.

"My Learning, My Future is a suite of resources to support subject teaching staff, from over 26 subjects at KS3 & 4, to engage students in curriculum learning by highlighting the relevance of their subjects to future careers and opportunities.

The aim of the resources is for students to see the relevance and value of subject curriculum teaching and learning and to be explicitly supported in making connections between subjects and pathways to positive transitions.
