Good afternoon,

Children's Mental Health Week:  This is next week (1st to 7th Feb) and is the theme of our weekly reflection.  There are lots of resources to help with mental health and wellbeing on our website as well as support and advice for parents & carers

Year 11:  We are all very aware that Year 11s feel "in limbo" at the moment.  I have been very, very impressed by the way in which the whole year group are keeping working and staying motivated.   As I have said before, the one thing that we do know is that teachers will be involved in determining the final grade so all of Year 11 need to keep focused on doing their best each lesson.  The Ofqual consultation finishes today (and has had around 90,000 responses apparently!) so we hope that some clarity will emerge in the next few weeks as to what process will be followed to decide the final GCSE grades.  I know that it is an uncertain time, but Year 11 need to take each lesson as it comes and do the very best that they can each day.

INSET day (or not!):  There appears to be a rumour amongst some students that we are closed for INSET on Monday.  I am not sure where this has come from - it isn't true - lessons will be as "normal" on Monday!

Remote learning support videos:  Please be aware that there are some new videos on our remote learning page to support students in submitting work through Teams.  These have been created by Miss Richardson from our Computing and ICT department. Please remember to email ICTSupport@waltonledale.lancs.sch.uk if your son or daughter is having ICT issues with remote learning.

** !! ** Year 9 Parents' and Carers' evening on Wed 10th Feb:  46% of parents & carers for Year 9 have already booked appointments, which is great to see.  The guidance is on the website here.

** !! ** Year 9 Vaccinations: Please see below the link to register your child for the Meningitis ACWY & DTP vaccinations.  IntraHealth Nurses will be contacting you over the coming weeks to arrange appointments for your child’s vaccinations.  They would normally be coming into school, but due to the pandemic that cannot happen here in school. However, they have sourced some other venues so they will let you know when and where these will be. Please note that the link will close on 14th February. https://www.nhsimms.uk/TDIPVACWY/information?Id=119743&Type=TDIPVACWY

Best wishes for a good weekend...
