Good afternoon,
I have been notified by Public Health England that one of our students in Year 11 has tested positive for COVID-19. We are identifying close contacts of that student and those students will be required to self-isolate.
The process of identifying those close contacts accurately will take until the end of Monday - while this process is underway all Year 11 must not attend school on Monday. They are to log on to Microsoft Teams at the time of each lesson and their lesson will be taught by their usual teacher through Teams. Should there be issues with computer access at the time of the lesson then all the resources will be available on Teams after the lesson.
In addition, all Year 10 students who travel on the 505 (Preston) bus must also not attend school on Monday. They will be able to access resources for their subjects on Teams like Year 11, but the lessons will not be taught live as the rest of the year group will be in school.
All other students should attend school as normal.
Once we have fully identified the close contacts we will be sending out further information and individual letters - this will be later on Monday. Please be aware that we are not permitted to disclose the name of the student who has tested positive.
I appreciate that this news is concerning, but please be assured that we are working closely with Public Health England and that we already have clear plans, procedures and risk assessments in place for this eventuality. It is a scenario that is affecting many of our local schools. I am sure that you will join me in wishing the Year 11 student and their family well at this difficult time.
Best wishes
James Harris
