Good afternoon,
Assembly tomorrow: I have sent a link to our end of year assembly to all our students. I understand that some students will find it difficult to attend for a variety of reasons, but please encourage them to attend if they can. It will be good to get everyone together, even if only virtually at this stage!
Notice from Mrs Sweeney, our PSHE Co-ordinator: PSHE Student Survey: Mrs Sweeney has sent all students a link to a PSHE survey, which will help to inform our PSHE curriculum. Please could you encourage your child to complete this as soon as they can.
Communication over the next few weeks: I will not be sending daily communications over the coming weeks (something that you may be pleased about!), but I will update you as any developments occur. In particular, as we approach the end of August, I will be sending out precise practical arrangements for the safe opening of school in order to reassure all parents/carers and students. All updates will, as always, be posted on the website (https://www.waltonledale.lancs.sch.uk/blog/category/wld-updates) and you may want to download the School Gateway app so you get all your school messages in one place.
Classcharts: Many parents and students have downloaded the Classcharts app onto their devices - this is going to be important as we move into next year, so please can I encourage you to do so. This will mean that you will be able to see all the positive and negative events related to your son or daughter. Login details were emailed out some weeks ago.
Facebook and Twitter: Please continue to follow us on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/WLDHighSchool) and Twitter (https://twitter.com/WLDHighSchool) and spread the word about our virtual Open Evening on the 14th September (https://www.waltonledale.lancs.sch.uk/open-evening-2020).
Many thanks for your support over this extremely challenging period for all of us. I am, along with all the staff of Walton-le-Dale, very much looking forward to welcoming all our students back at the beginning of September (Wed 2 Sept for Years 7 & 11, Thurs 3 Sept for all years).
Very best wishes,
James Harris
Headteacher.
