Good afternoon,

It is really good to see our Year 10s from Yellow section today!  We are emailing all parents/carers of Year 10 directly with the information about next week.  We have decided, based on the discussions with students so far, to offer subject specific sessions in English, Maths and Science next week and then options subjects in the following 2 weeks. A small number of students will be approached directly by Progress Co-ordinators to come in for additional days.  We are still subject to the constraint of only having 25% of Year 10 in at any one time.  If you don't receive the information about next week by tomorrow morning, and your son or daughter is in Year 10, please get in touch with Mrs Hodgson on l.hodgson@waltonledale.lancs.sch.uk. This provision is aimed to support remote learning so that students are up to date when we return in September.  For information about our overall approach, as I said yesterday, please see "What are we doing and why?"

Provision for key worker and vulnerable students:  As far as we know provision for key worker and vulnerable students finishes at the end of term (17th July).  We are awaiting definitive clarification about this from the government and the local authority.

Year 8 engagement report: This will be emailed out today.  It gives an indication, from our records, of students' engagement with their learning and is intended to enable discussion between parents/carers and students.  The required action is that students must email their teachers in subjects where they appear to have less engagement to get help or to submit work.  It is the contact between teachers and students that is vital.  We are well aware that some students are completing work on paper or have other reasons why teachers may be unaware of the work that they have been doing.

Preston College virtual taster day:  Preston College is holding virtual taster days aimed at Year 10s - register at this link http://www.preston.ac.uk/tasters/.

Army Virtual open day: We received the following information from the Army...

If you have students who might be interested in finding out more about the Army Foundation College we are
holding a virtual Open Day: Wednesday 1st July at 4pm.

Spaces are limited on this event so early booking is advised to avoid disappointment. To book onto the event all they need to do is click here, and fill in their details to receive the information about joining the session by email.

Best wishes,
