22 April 2020
Good afternoon,
Some updates from today...
City Nature Challenge: The Wildlife Trust is running the City Nature Challenge from 24th to 27th April - more details here.
Mental Health webinar: Sam Tyrer, who has worked with some of our students in school, is running weekly Mental Health webinars at 10am on a Tuesday. The recordings are on Youtube - the second one is here.
The 2.6 Challenge: Many UK charities are struggling at this time due to the cancellation of fundraising events due to the pandemic. The 2.6 Challenge is a way of helping them. We are planning to do the challenge as a staff - have a look at the link and see if you want to get involved.
Eligibility for Free School Meals: The government has slightly altered the rules around who is eligible for free school meals. The guidance is here and it extends the provision of free school meals to these groups:
- children of Zambrano carers
- children of families with no recourse to public funds with a right to remain in the UK on grounds of private and family life under Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights
- children of families receiving support under Section 17 of the Children Act 1989 who are also subject to a no recourse to public funds restriction
If you consider that you fall into one of these groups please contact us at school so that we can assist you with your claim for eligibility for free school meals.
Reading: Reading is a key part of everyone's education. To help with students reading at home, Lancashire Libraries lend books digitally - have a look at the information here. Librarians are good at recommending books - this video gives some suggestions!
Stay safe....
