GCSE mock examinations:  Well done to all Year 11 on their attitude and perseverance during the first week of mock examinations.  Week 2 this week! We will be giving out results in the form of a "mock results slip" at Parents' Evening on the 22nd January.  Teachers will of course give out numerical marks, go over papers and work on weak areas before that date.

Christmas events:  This week we have a Christmas market for students at break on Tuesday and Wednesday - students may wish to bring in a small amount of money to spend on presents for others.   "Christmas Jumper" day is on Friday, when students (and staff) may optionally wear Christmas jumpers in addition to their normal uniform in return for a small donation to charity.  Our Christmas lunch for everyone is also on Friday this week.  Advance notice:  Please be aware that we close for Christmas at 12.20 on Friday 20th December - school buses will run to Preston and Blackburn at that time.

Online Safety Evening:  We are very fortunate to be able to hear from Sam Tyrer of Change Talks on Wednesday evening (11th December) from 6 - 7.30pm on the vital subject of Online Safety.  This is for parents/carers of students in Years 7 to 9 - please let us know if you are planning to come so that we can make appropriate practical arrangements.

Enrichment Day 2:  This was excellent!  Have a look at the news article and photos here.

Hothersall Lodge:  Again, this was a great opportunity for team building with our Year 7.  Have a look at the news article and photos here.

Uniform:  As we have been saying all term, we are simply enforcing the uniform rules that have not changed.  Piercings are an issue with some students at the moment - please be aware that they are not permitted in school.  As the uniform policy on the website says "For health and safety reasons no jewellery should be worn in school other than a watch and single stud earrings.  Nose, tongue, face, body studs/bars etc are strictly prohibited as are acrylic nails or similar items."  Apologies for going on about it, but it would be very helpful if students did not try to get around our simple, clear rules.

Please be aware of our regular "Career of the Week" ("Wind Turbine Technician" this week) and our "Form powerpoints" which are always worth having a look at. Please also keep an eye on the school calendar.

If you haven't done so, please take a moment to register for the School Gateway app here (https://login.schoolgateway.com/0/auth/login) - the link is on the top bar of the website homepage.  It gives you convenient access to messages and information from school.

Have a good week.
