Year 7 Parents' Evening: It was lovely to welcome parents and carers of Year 7 to parents' evening on Wednesday - so many positive developments to celebrate as our young people move towards the end of their first year at Walton-le-Dale.
Year 11: For almost all our Year 11 students their GCSE examinations are over - just 2 students sitting a final paper on Wednesday. Their attitude has been excellent and we are looking forward to the Prom at Farrington Lodge on Thursday 27th June - photos from last year's prom are here.
Respect, determination and hard work.... these are the 3 words or phrases that our students clearly identified as the key characteristics of members of our school community - very strong and positive attributes....
Remarkable poetry: It is always a pleasure to receive remarkable poetry from our students - this is from Ethan Gibbons (Year 9) as a tribute to those who died in the Hillsborough disaster..
JFT96
15th April 1989.
All those that tried to climb
Over the fence, into safety
Those 96 people have been on my mind lately.
This year, a beautiful tribute, Liverpool – Chelsea
Salah’s screamer, a 2-0 win, I felt like I was melting
A gorgeous mosaic, to mark 30 years
Moments of ecstatic joy, shared with my peers.
Kids that died, as young as ten
Trapped and crushed in that dingy pen
Every goal we score, it’s for them
As we push every day to win the Prem
Memorials outside, with pictures and words
Almost 100 dead bodies, like a zombie herd
They call us bottlers, they’re telling us no
But everyone remembers those 96 fans that never came home.
Upcoming events - please keep an eye on the calendar. INSET day on Friday 21st June when the school will be closed to students (it is our Primary Day). Work experience week for Year 10 begins on the 1st July - photos from last year are here.
Our WLD Career of the Week is "Drone Pilot". Our Thought for the Week is "Refugees".
