Some really good things from this week:
The Year 11 Performing Arts group presented a showcase of their work and had it filmed for their qualification. It was a pleasure and privilege to be there and to witness the hard work that everyone had put in to creating some very original performances. This is a new Technical Award qualification and we are expecting some excellent results! Miss Adams took teams of gymnasts to the National finals in Stoke - have a look at Twitter for some of the photos... @WLDHighSchool. Over the years the performance of our gymnasts has been outstanding - many thanks to all the staff concerned. This morning we heard that Charlotte Cirino's writing on Human Rights, which I showcased in this blog a couple of weeks ago, has been shortlisted in the Junior Creative category of the Humanitarian Aid Relief Trust (HART) Award 2019. The winner will be announced by Baroness Cox at a ceremony in London on the 25th March.
Some more "normal" things....
Year 11 Revision plan: This week is "Week 4" (of 11) - if you are the parent or carer of a Year 11 please make sure that they are using the plan - it is not too late to get this underway! Please also check the Easter school arrangements so that you know which days your son or daughter needs to be in school over the Easter break.
Upcoming events - please keep an eye on the calendar:
Our WLD Career of the Week is "Social Worker". Our Thought for the Week is "International Happiness Day"
Have a good week ...
