Walton-le-Dale remembers...
As the whole country (and the wider world) stops to remember those who have died in war, it is appropriate and moving that the main reception area of school has been taken over by a cascade of hand-made poppies. Thank you to all those who have contributed to this striking memorial.
Year 11 mock examinations
It seems odd, on a day when we remember events of such worldwide significance, to talk about the day-to-day life of the school, but this year is a critical one for Year 11 and it goes by very quickly! Mock examinations start on the 3rd December (the timetable is here) and you will get a copy of the revision topics in the next day or so. This will help you to check that your son or daughter is revising! It is challenging for them because they are still learning new material, but it is essential that they review and revise previous topics - it will all help for the exams in the summer. As a guide, each Year 11 should be doing 2 hours work per evening, with some more at weekends. Should Year 11 parents/carers have any questions or concerns they should get in touch with their son or daughter's individual mentor.
Future U
We have been privileged to have a team of professional actors, musicians, make-up artists and other creative professionals working with our Year 10 Performance group over the last few weeks. The Year 10s, along with the professional team, showcased their work on Thursday evening last week and the results were amazing. To get a flavour of the work, please have a look at the tweet that Future U posted the following day...
