25 February 2022
It has been a wet and windy week! It has been lovely to see everyone back after the half-term break. I have been speaking to all students in assemblies about the skill of empathy (the E in our ASPIRE ethos statement). It is Empathy Week (21 - 25 Feb) and it is vital to understand other people and how they think and feel so that we can act appropriately. This is particularly important during this COVID period and especially as we watch the tragic events unfold in Ukraine.
On a much more minor note please can you ensure that your son or daughter has a note for any missing or incorrect items of uniform (e.g. shoes) which indicates the date on which the matter will be sorted.
Year 9
- Vaccinations: the nurses will be in school on Thursday, 3rd March to deliver the DTP/ACWY vaccinations to year 9s.
Year 11
- Assessments: Following instructions from the Department for Education we are required to gather information in case teacher assessed grades are required this year. While this seems unlikely we need to gather the evidence as required. During the weeks beginning 7 March and 14 March Year 11 will be sitting assessments in classrooms under controlled conditions. These actually form a useful part of the revision process and will give teahcers and students further insight into their progress as the examinations approach.
