FEEDBACK
Link to this term’s CPD focus – Reading and Understanding
As we all know, developing the independence of our students as readers has been a priority over the course of the last term. The Reciprocal Reading approach is one of our strategies and is part of our T&L Policy.
Granted, the ‘prediction’ element of this process may not always lend itself to certain subject areas; however, the remaining three processes absolutely do: question, clarify and summarise. These skills are clearly interlinked with Blooms’ Taxonomy in the lower order skills. For our students to move to the higher order skills, we need to set the foundations:
So this week, reflect on your use of Reciprocal Reading approaches. If you are not using them, establish the reasons why and discuss within your subject area (or with RLO). Attached to this TLD are some resources that may enable you to embed within your own classroom practice.
