5 July 2020
Good afternoon,
Our weekly reflection is Social Media and Body Image - please have a look at the resources provided on our website.
Notice from Mrs Sweeney, our PSHE Co-ordinator: Mental Health and Wellbeing Parent Survey - You will shortly receive a letter containing a link to a survey asking a few questions about mental health and well-being. We would really appreciate it if you could fill it in at your earliest convenience. This will help to support our curriculum planning for our new PSHE programme starting in September 2020 and our Mental Health provision in school.
Opening in September: As we plan for September, there are some of the usual practicalities. Uniform can be ordered (online only) by 3rd August and then collected from the 18th August to 21st August and then from 25th August to 28th August. Collections are between 10 and 2 from school. We will ensure social distancing when collecting uniform. Under these conditions uniform cannot be tried on at school, but we will exchange items as long as the tags are intact. Bus pass information will be sent out to parents/carers of current students shortly and new intake students have received information in their welcome packs. It will be essential, following government guidance, for each student to have their own stationery. Most schools insist on this already. We can buy in bulk and don't pay VAT so we are selling a stationery pack as part of the uniform on our website. This is a new requirement for September.
Key worker and vulnerable student provision: I have put a few reminders on about this recently - the provision will finish at the end of term (Friday 17th July).
Mentoring: We will be endeavoring to have discussions with each of our students during these couple of weeks before the end of term in order to help them to prepare for return in September. We will be using the school system of Microsoft Teams or Office 365 email to make contact with each student. This individual support for each young person from an adult in the school community will be important as we all come back together in September. Should you have any questions about our mentoring of students please contact Mr Howarth, Deputy Headteacher (p.howarth@waltonledale.lancs.sch.uk)
Best wishes and stay safe as lockdown eases....
