Good afternoon,

It has been lovely to see the Year 10s in this week for Maths, English and Science.  Next week we are trying to make sure that they get some input from their options teachers to set them up for remote learning in preparation for returning in September.  Please be aware that the classrooms are quite cold at the moment because of the requirement to have lots of fresh air in rooms!

Open Evening:  As I said in the update the other day we are planning for our Open Evening on Monday 14th September.  We don't know yet whether we will be able to have people on site so we are planning for a virtual Open Evening, using livestreaming, alongside planning to open our doors physically. Either way we will need people to register their interest so there is now an area of our website https://www.waltonledale.lancs.sch.uk/open-evening-2020 and a dedicated email address openevening@waltonledale.lancs.sch.uk,  Please can I ask for your help in sharing these links via social media and word of mouth - we usually have more than 800 people at our open evening and we would love to welcome a similar number of families either virtually or in person in September.  Many thanks for your help.

Provision for children of key workers and vulnerable students:  As I have indicated on a couple of occasions on the last couple of weeks we received confirmation from the government yesterday that this provision will stop at the end of term.  "The Secretary of State for Education has confirmed that we are not asking schools to open over the summer holidays, and there is no expectation that schools should open for vulnerable children and children of critical workers over this period."

Best wishes
