Many thanks to everyone for your support of the "Race for Life Schools" - at the end of the day we believed that we have raised over £2000, but that is just an estimate as the cash donations have yet to be properly counted.  Cancer has touched many of us this year, either directly or indirectly, and it was very moving and impressive to see the way that the whole school responded to the Race for Life.  Having had a good forecast all week it was hard to see the showers coming across, but actually that just kept everyone cool and they cleared in time for the races in the afternoon.  Sports Day, as a whole, was a wonderful event.  Photos to follow in the next couple of days!  Many thanks to the PE department and the whole team of staff for organising the day - and thanks to the Year 11s who came back in to help! If you would still like to donate to Cancer Research the link is here

Please remember that Mr Hardman is undertaking the 500 mile challenge in memory of Tim Hindle in the first full week of the holidays to raise money for Manchester Children's Hospital - please support him and donate here..

Awards Evening on Wednesday was a very special event - congratulations to the very significant number of students who received prizes and awards. I can do no more than quote from an email that I received from a parent following the event:  "After such a wonderful awards evening last night, I really felt that I had to send you an email to say thankyou. I was absolutely bowled over by the attitude of the children and the way they supported each other, both when they were accepting their awards and when the choir and cast of We Will Rock You were performing - it was an absolute joy to watch the children seated at the side of the stage joining in with the actions and singing and really showing solidarity with those on stage. The pride the students so obviously felt in accepting their awards was written all of their faces and they really are a credit to yourself, your staff and their families."  Thank you to the Pastoral team and the Performance Faculty for the effort that goes into the organisation of the event.

Upcoming events - As we come to the end of the school year "Trips and Activities Day" is on Monday 22nd July and we close for the summer at lunchtime on Tuesday 23rd July.

Our Thought for the Week is "Thanks". Very appropriate indeed!

Have a good week ...
